FIIs were net buyers with the tune of ` 3324.59 crore (prov. cash market fig).
The BSE 30-share Sensex was up 155.04 points or 0.80% to 19,445.22, its highest closing since 12 January 2011. The index gained 284.98 points in early afternoon and made day’s high of 19,575.16 which is its highest level since 10 January 2011. The index also slipped 5.83 points at the day's low of 19,284.35 in late trade. The S&P CNX Nifty was up 46.10 points or 0.80% to 5,833.75, its highest closing since 12 January 2011. The Nifty made a high of 5,872 and low of 5,778.65 during the day. The BSE Mid-Cap index rose 0.29% and the BSE Small-Cap index rose 0.21%. Both these indices underperformed the Sensex.
The total turnover on BSE amounted to ` 3192 crore, higher than ` 3105 crore on Wednesday.
Among the 30-member Sensex pack, 21 gained while the rest of them declined.
FOR TODAY: Nifty Call options of strike 5800 shed open interest by 65865 lots while Put options of strike 5700 had a build up of 37141 lots. Nifty Put Call ratio (PCR) rose to 1.67 with the total open interest in Call options at 1,287,836 lots and that in Put options at 2,302,577 lots. Volatility Index rose marginally by 0.64% from 22.04 to 22.18.
It is the FII money which pull Nifty upside though it is in overbought zone. EU markets were closed in RED and US markets closed mixed. Asian markets are trading flat to negative. Surprisingly, SGX Nifty is trading at 5870, 36.50 points up at 8.30 a.m.
