The BSE 30-share Sensex was up 18.64 points or 0.1% to 18011.97. The index rose 117.06 points at the day's high of 18,110.39 in afternoon trade. The Sensex fell 59.39 points at the day's low of 17,933.94 in mid-afternoon trade, its lowest closing level since 22 March 2011. The S&P CNX Nifty was up 8.30 points or 0.15% to 5,394.85. The Nifty hit low of 5,367.45 in intraday trade, its lowest level since 21 March 2011. The BSE Mid-Cap index was flat. The BSE Small-Cap index fell 0.04%. Both these indices underperformed the Sensex.
The market breadth was negative. On BSE, 1448 shares declined while 1301 shares advanced and a total of 127 shares remained unchanged. Among the 30-member Sensex pack, 16 stocks rose while the rest of them declined.
BSE clocked turnover of ` 2592 crore, lower than ` 2607.78 crore on Monday, 23 May 2011.

FOR TODAY:  EU markets were closed in GREEN while US markets were closed in RED. Today all Asian markets are trading in RED. SGX Nifty is trading at this time (8.30 am) at 5357.50, down 36.50 points suggests that Nifty may open a gap down and around 5350-5360 area.
TODAY WATCH 5340-5350 AREA ON THE DOWN SIDE AND 5425/5436 ON THE UPSIDE. IF NIFTY HOLDS 5340-5350 AREA, IT WILL TRY TO MOVE TOWARDS 5400/5425/5436 AREA. HOWEVER, IF BREACHES 5340 TOO, WE MAY SEE EVEN 5100/5200 IN NEAR FUTURE.
