FIIs were net buyers with the tune of ` 1131.72 crore on Monday (prov. fig.)
The BSE Sensex rose 51.68 points or 0.29% to 18,814.48. The Sensex jumped 179.62 points at the day's high of 18,942.42 in early trade. The index rose 19.08 points at the day's low of 18,781.88 in mid-morning trade. The S&P CNX Nifty was up 23.30 points or 0.41% to 5,650.50, its highest closing level since 2 May 2011. The Nifty hit high of 5,679.65 in intraday trade. The BSE Mid-Cap index rose 0.92% and the BSE Small-Cap index gained 1.1%. Both these indices outperformed the Sensex.
The market breadth was strong. On BSE, 1,758 shares advanced while 1,089 shares declined and a total of 111 shares remained unchanged. Among the 30-member Sensex pack, 19 stocks rose while the rest of them fell.
