FIIs were net sellers with the tune of ` 825.89 crore whereas DII were net buyers of ` 295.34 crore on Monday, the 3rd October 2011(prov. fig.)
The BSE Sensex lost 302.21 points or 1.84% to settle at 16,151.45, its lowest closing level since 26 September 2011. The index lost 397.43 points at the day's low of 16,056.33 in early afternoon trade. The index fell 197.79 points at the day's high of 16,255.97 in early trade. The S&P CNX Nifty shed 93.75 points or 1.9% to settle at 4,849.50, its lowest closing level since 26 September 2011. The Nifty hit a low of 4,823.90 in intraday trade. The BSE Mid-Cap index fell 1.9% and underperformed the Sensex. The BSE Small-Cap index declined 1.48% and outperformed the Sensex.
The market breadth was weak. On BSE, 1,915 shares fell and 879 rose and a total of 104 shares were unchanged. Among the 30-share Sensex pack, 22 declined and the rest rose.
FOR TODAY: NIFTY MAY TRY TO FILL UP THE GAP MADE YESTERDAY'S GAP-DOWN OPENING FROM 4943. IT HAS ALSO SEEN THAT NIFTY DIDN'T BREACHED THE IMPORTANT SUPPORT OF 4800. IF NIFTY ABLE TO SAVE ITS YESTERDAY'S LOW 4824 AND 4800 ON THE DOWNSIDE, THEN IT MAY MOVE UPWARDS TO FILL THE GAP IN THIS WEEK ITSELF.
