The BSE Sensex surged 128.15 points or 0.82% to settle at 15,813.36, its highest closing level since 15 December 2011. The index lost 212.51 points at the day's low of 15,472.70 in afternoon trade. The Sensex gained 149.42 points at the day's high of 15,834.63 in late trade. The S&P CNX Nifty jumped 40.70 points or 0.87% to settle at 4,733.85, its highest closing level since 15 December 2011. The Nifty hit a high of 4,740.60 and a low 4,632.95 in intraday trade. The BSE Mid-Cap index rose 0.78% and the BSE Small-Cap index gained 0.7%. Both these indices underperformed the Sensex.
The market breadth turned positive from negative in late trade. On BSE, 1,568 shares advanced and 1,169 shares declined and a total of 111 shares were unchanged. Among the 30-member Sensex pack, 22 gained while the rest of them declined.

FOR TODAY: WATCH 4777 ON THE UPSIDE. 4770-4780 IS A CRUCIAL POINT AND WILL ACT RESISTANCE BREAKING WHICH NIFTY WILL MOVE TOWARDS 4800-4850 WITHIN ONE OR TWO DAYS. HOWEVER, IF NIFTY NOT ABLE TO MOVE PAST 4780 AND TRADE BELOW 4740, CHANCES ARE THERE TO HIT 4700/4680 ON THE DOWNSIDE. BEING LAST DAY OF THE WEEK, PROFIT BOOKING IN SECOND HALF IS EXPECTED.
