On its one and half hour special trading session on Saturday, the BSE Sensex lost 18.93 points or 0.12% from Friday’s closing to settle at 15,848.80, its lowest closing level since 2 January 2012. The index rose 32.57 points at the day's high of 15,900.30 in early trade. The index fell 32.44 points at the day's low of 15,835.29 in late trade. The S&P CNX Nifty also lost 7.20 points or 0.15% from Friday’s closing to settle at 4,746.90, its lowest closing level since 2 January 2012. The index hit a high of 4,759.40 and a low of 4,743.05 in intraday trade. The BSE Mid-Cap index rose 0.73% and the BSE Small-Cap index rose 1%. Both these indices outperformed the Sensex.
The market breadth was strong. On BSE, 1,573 shares rose and 670 shares fell and a total of 74 shares were unchanged. Among the 30-member Sensex pack, 17 fell while rest of them rose.
