The Nifty has broken the 12 day spike which was expected so bull should take a cautious approach unless or until the Index closes above 5950. 
FIIs were net buyers with the tune of ` 528.47 crore (prov. cash market fig).
The BSE 30-share Sensex was down 74.62 points or 0.38% to 19,612.20. The Sensex declined 136.27 points at the day's low of 19,550.55 in mid-morning trade. The index gained 124.32 points at the day's high of 19,811.14 in morning trade, its highest level since 7 January 2011. The S&P CNX Nifty was down 18.30 points or 0.31% to 5,891.75. The Nifty struck a high of 5,944.45 in early trade, its highest level since 7 January 2011. Small-cap and mid-cap indices on BSE extended recent strong gains. The BSE Mid-Cap index rose 0.47% and the BSE Small-Cap index rose 0.78%. Both these indices outperformed the Sensex.
The market breadth was strong. On BSE, 1,777 shares advanced while 1,161 shares declined and a total of 107 shares remained unchanged. Among the 30-member Sensex pack, 20 declined while the rest of them gained.
The total turnover on BSE amounted to ` 3928 crore higher than ` 3698.77 crore on Tuesday, 5 April 2011.

  • Nifty Call options of strike 5900 added open interest by 14744 lots while Put options of strike 5400 shed open interest by 19403 lots.
  • Nifty Put Call ratio fell to 1.37 with the total open interest in Call options at 1,021,593 lots and that in Put options at 1,402,766 lots.
  • Volatility Index rose by 2.31% from 19.90 to 20.36
From the available data, it is evident that as of now, on the lower side Nifty is likely to face strong support in the vicinity of 5800-5820level, the level (5800) which consists of the second highest OI (i.e. 51.56 lacs shares) among the Nifty put options. On the other hand, on the higher side Nifty is likely to face strong resistance in the vicinity of 5980-6000 level, the level (6000) which consists of the highest in OI (i.e. 64.20 lacs shares) among the Nifty Call Options. 
FOR TODAY: EU as well as US markets closed in green though they have lost their early gains during the day. Asian markets are trading in mixed but on negative bias. SGX Nifty is trading at 5906, down 6 points around 8.40 a.m.
TODAY WATCH 5954-5955 LEVEL ON THE UPSIDE.  IF NOT CROSSED WITH VOLUME, WE MAY AGAIN EXPECT NIFTY 5900/5854 AND EVEN 5800 LEVEL.
