The BSE 30-share Sensex was down 16.19 points or 0.09% to 18,512.77. The index rose 160.41 points at the day's high of 18,689.37 in mid-morning trade. The Sensex fell 99.90 points at the day's low of 18,429.06 in late trade. The S&P CNX Nifty was down 9.85 points or 0.18% to 5,541.25. The BSE Mid-Cap index fell 0.04%. The BSE Small-Cap index rose 0.25%. Both these indices outperformed the Sensex.
The market breadth was marginally negative. On BSE, 1409 shares declined while 1379 shares declined and a total of 145 shares remained unchanged. Among the 30-member Sensex pack, 17 advanced while rest of them declined.
BSE clocked turnover of ` 2439 crore higher than ` 2310.14 crore on Monday, 9 May 2011.

FOR TODAY: EU as well as US markets were closed GREEN with positive bias yesterday. Today Asian markets are trading mixed but mostly on positive side. SGX Nifty is trading around 5558.50, just up 9.50 points at 8.40 a.m. indicates that Nifty may open flat to positive and will try to recover its yesterday's loss.
WATCH 5511 ON THE DOWN SIDE AND 5590/5602/5623/5635 ON THE UPSIDE. ON THE UPSIDE THERE ARE CLUSTER OF RESISTANCES. HOWEVER, ON ANY DAY, IF NIFTY CLOSES ABOVE 5650, SHARP UPMOVE MAY BE SEEN. ON THE CONTRARY, IF NIFTY CLOSES BELOW 5443, THE RECENT LOW, PANIC SELLING MAY BE SEEN.
